Failure To Define The Purpose Of Your Website and Execute A Plan

At the beginning phase of your website design, you must know the purpose of your website.

Is it to generate leads?  Is it to showcase your capabilities and the scope of work you can take on?

If the purpose of your website is to generate leads and you plan on running pay per click or search engine optimisation campaigns to your website, you may also need to answer questions like the following to ensure you have the ultimate chances of success.

Why are you different from your competition?

What are you going to offer your potential clients as incentives or value compared to your competition?

It is always important to remember.  Your competition is only one click away.  In the past people had to drive down the street to find a better deal, today it is at the tip of their fingertips.

Failing to Capture Visitor Information

If you do not have a way of gathering data from visitors to your website, you are making a grave mistake.

This could be as simple as creating a form for visitors to sign up for a newsletter or occasional coupons.   People only give their phone numbers or email data if they feel there is sufficient “value” for them to do so.  So if you are going to ask for their contact details, ensure you are providing something of value to them first, whether that be a free design consultation, or free on-site quote etc.

When you capture email or phone data,  you are opening up the door to do future business. Without this information, you cannot contact your potential customers  again and will have to rely on them to come back on their own.

Another way of capturing visitor data is installing Google Analytics.  Google analytics gives you powerful information such as

How many people are accessing your website on a monthly basis?

How many people are accessing your website via a mobile device?

How long are your potential customers staying on your website?

What pages on your website are most popular?

The ability to access and read Data for small business is becoming more and more important as competition on the internet heats up.

Let’s be honest, a large percentage of the visitors to your website are not going to be doing so from a computer. They will be visiting from their smartphone or tablet in many cases. One major mistake is to not test for compatibility.

If your website does not work on a smartphone, you will miss out on a lot of business. If they cannot open your website on one of their devices, they will simply go to the next option that they can view.

Before you make your website live, you will want to test it out on various devices, if not all possible ones.

If it does not work, find a way to create a mobile website so your content can be viewed.

In terms of website mistakes, these are just the tip of the iceberg.  If you would like to create an exceptional website design and development for your brand.  Speak to one of our digital marketing specialists at www.kaladigital.com.au
